Infected Horde Audio Limiter

What is it?
A client-side audio limiter for infected horde voices and footsteps.

If your server features large infected hordes and you are bothered by broken voice bursts, overlapping screams, or footstep-heavy audio overload, Infected Horde Audio Limiter may be worth trying.

Description:
I am someone who enjoys fighting infected hordes. Large-scale zombie swarms, especially scenes like those in World War Z, have always left a strong impression on me.

However, in Vanilla DayZ, once more than twenty infected are active on screen, infected audio can become noticeably overloaded. You may hear overlapping and broken voice bursts, or situations where the infected voices seem to disappear while footstep sounds dominate the mix. This becomes even more noticeable when using horde-style infected spawn mods.

Infected Horde Audio Limiter is a client-side presentation mod that reduces infected audio overload during large hordes.

It limits excessive infected voice bursts, spaces out queued voice events, drops outdated or distant bursts, and thins infected footstep sounds when nearby horde movement creates heavy audio pressure.

This mod does not replace infected sounds, change infected AI, reduce infected spawns, alter damage, or modify combat behavior. It only changes how many infected audio events the client allows to play during high-density situations.


Installation

This mod is installed like most other DayZ client mods.

For players

1. Subscribe to the mod on Steam Workshop.
2. Open the DayZ Launcher.
3. Enable Infected Horde Audio Limiter in your mod list.
4. Join a server that allows or requires this mod.

This mod does not require any manual configuration.

For server owners

Add the mod as a normal client/shared mod.

Example:

-mod=@InfectedHordeAudioLimiter;

Do not load it as a server-only mod.

If your server uses signature verification, make sure the mod key is added to your server keys folder, the same as with other Workshop mods.



No repacks allowed.

Unpacking is allowed for learning and reference purposes only.
Re-uploading, redistributing, repacking, or publishing modified versions is not allowed without permission.
