What is this?
This is a client-side audio limiter for infected horde voices and footsteps.
If your server has large infected hordes and the resulting audio is bothering you, give this mod a try.
Introduction
When it comes to fighting zombies, who doesn't enjoy taking on a horde? Large-scale zombie swarms, especially scenes like those in World War Z, have always made a strong impression on me.
In vanilla DayZ, infected audio can become noticeably overloaded once more than twenty infected are active on screen. You may hear overlapping roars, cries cutting off mid-sound, or sudden bursts of infected voices. Sometimes the voices seem to disappear, leaving footsteps to dominate the mix. This is even more noticeable with infected horde spawn mods.
Infected Horde Audio Limiter is a client-side presentation mod that reduces audio overload when many infected are active at once.
It limits excessive infected voice bursts, spaces out infected voice events, immediately skips voice events that exceed the budget or come from too far away, and reduces some infected footstep sounds when nearby horde movement creates heavy audio pressure.
This mod does not otherwise change how vanilla or modded infected behave.
Installation
This mod is installed like most other DayZ client mods.
For players
1. Subscribe to the mod on Steam Workshop.
2. Open the DayZ Launcher.
3. Enable Infected Horde Audio Limiter in your mod list.
4. Join a server that allows or requires this mod.
No manual configuration is required.
For server owners
Load the mod as a normal client/shared mod.
Example:
-mod=@InfectedHordeAudioLimiter;
Do not load it as a server-only mod.
If your server uses signature verification, add this mod's key file to the server's keys folder, just as you would for other Workshop mods.
No repacks allowed.
Unpacking is allowed for learning and reference purposes.
Re-uploading, redistributing, repacking, or publishing modified versions without permission is not allowed.
